A very young cub takes cautious steps in Masai mara with mother keeping an eye on it.
I know the SS is a bit slow but I guess the outcome is not too bad.

I really like this one. I am not unduly concerned about sharpness,, he is walking toward the camera as opposed to laterally, the eyes and fur look sharp. The raised paw and alert look are most appealing.
The image as a whole looks a little flat to me, I appreciate conditions look pretty dried out but I just wondered if a little injection of tone would help?

Dear Sanjeev,

I love the little lion, he is adorable. And probably quite a handful! Beautiful pose and nice POV. Framing looks good. That front paw on the ground is enormous - must be a male:bg3:

The IQ has suffered quite a bit. There's a degree of coarseness on the cub's face and no detail on the nose and mouth. Perhaps you could back off on contrast and lift blacks and shadows. And just one gentle curve adjustment applied selectively.

At this age a cub's fur is still fuzzy so only a little sharpening needed... those beautiful, innocent eyes make the image for me:S3:

Kind regards,

hi sanjeev ... yeees the little lion king is just oh so so sweet , as they mostly are in that age .
the waking pose is priceless and those inquisitive eyes are gorgeous .
framing is nice and you have good low pov , albeit you have shot this from the safari vehicle .
base colors and tones looking good , apart from the oranges in the lions fur .... but there is always room to work a bit more .
my feeling is , that most of the edits of yours are just of global nature .

to me he iq has suffered , think the 5d can't handle the iso value and the slow shutter speed for the moving subject . I am with Gabriela and her technical thoughts .

but if the iq works for you , fair enough .

tfs Andreas

Its a wonderful scene of a beautiful soul imo. I agree that the walking pose and determined facial expression really add add to the image. The 'fly on the cubs eye' is certainly sharp.......

Very high on the cuteness scale. The focused eyes and raised paw make the image; practicing his stalking moves at an early age.

I think this is great, obviously a very cute subject, and as always having a raised paw is a nice touch. IQ is fine in my opinion, sharp where it needs to be and nice colours
