This morning was envisioned as a birding outing, but I couldn't resist busting out my rig when I saw this tom strutting around in a roadside field.
It's not the most exciting frame, but it was effectually 'free' in that I didn't have to put any headwork, preparation, or research into acquiring it.
Didn't have anything of this species save for crappy shots from my early photo days, so it was nice to upgrade.

Canon 600mm f/4 IS II on EOS R5
1/1600 at f/5.6, ISO 1600
Processed in LR CC and Topaz. Cloned out a handful bright/dark spots to even out background a bit.

Nice shot lovely composition, the colours however look rather garish to me. I have attached attenuated version for your consideration:

Hi Dorian ... a real nice shot , would not change a thing in general . But I do see an alternative , by simply darkening the FG a fraction .... leaving a smaller portion untouched .

The subject looks crazy good in terms of colors , details and sharpness .

Nice one and TFS Andreas

I far prefer the color in the original post to Jon's repost. The tops of their heads are sure bright. Love the image design and the strutting pose.

with love, artie
