Hi folks ... here now a portrait in typical using of the Gannet
One of the short times when I had nice soft evening light , sun was mostly hidden behind clouds in the mornings and evenings .... but fully shining when the light was was harsh :bg3:

Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2022 ; cropped for comp from horizontal to 65 % of FF .

Well sir, you got all up in his business! Glad you did....

The pose and close up detail certainly deserve great merit, however the beautiful color in the light is just fantastic.

I actually really like the little tiny feather on the beak too. If you wanted to get picky you could take a little blue out of the neck shadows, but that's not noticeable to most sets of eyes.

Hi Andreas, I like the image, nice clean and simple. Beautiful bird. Something you might try that I have been working on in my images is to reduce the exposure on the background by 1/3 stop. It seems to make the subject stand out more and separate it from the background. Thank you for sharing.

Great light here on this pleasing portrait. Nice to see texture in the iris, as well as on the skin around it and on the lores. Did you try some in-camera verticals with even more neck and perhaps shoulder visible? I like this one a lot, just curious to know.

Joe ... I think the subject does pop enough from the unicolored BG , so no need to go darker .... but could be with a try just for the fun .
