I have been trying a lot of different stuff these past few months- silhouettes, backlit and panning.
This will not be to most tastes but I am happy with it.

Beautiful image Gail well done. I like it even though it is different and I am with you trying to expand ones photography and skills. Love how some of the strong light comes out in some of those feathers sticking out. Especially the ones on the back. TFS

This works for me Gail...Beautiful light ...I think you got this one spot on....sometimes darker shows better on the bird, but then you don't get the details ...Great detail here and the rim of light below looks great, as does the loose feather....

Very nice

well done Gail, and this backlit image is just a start, I know you will continue to perfect, you always do! I like the specular highlights and the runaway feather, keep em coming!

Yeah, this is really nice. You really nailed the techs and the processing to get both rim lighting and feather detail. Dappled background is very appealing as well. Lone feather sticking out on back is fun as well.
Congrats on executing a new and challenging frame.
