This one just puts me in a calm state of mind with its simplicity, colors and "me-time" behavior.

David, the feel and colors here are superb. Fantastic job there.

Your low perspective was very effective. You processed the whites very well with nice detail. You could attempt to lift the shadows a little (carefully) to address the off and high light angle.

The image does need a little CCW rotation. Otherwise, I think you made the right choice in crop at 2x3, however I'm struggling a little with it. Might be one of those 'don't know until you see it right' type of images, but I feel like a little more above and below would be effective. Then, I think the centering is playing with me a little but can't decide which way to move it.... maybe a touch right to have room to look into.

Overall, this is a really nice capture, congrats.

I like the pinkish band in the BG.
Agree on some slight CCW rotatiom.
Nice pose.
I would back off on the sharpening a bit.
Unusual crop but I like it,
Gail

Haven't read the others comments as I'm trying to learn how to "make up my own mind" about images (so many here are so good it's easy just to parrot which doesn't develop my eye so to speak). Though it's often good to have the full bird reflection (or something near it) here I could use less. I really like the water line and love the lighter pink in the bkg too. Just a big below the waterline would do it for me. Great image though. TFS.

Nice as noted above. No doubt for me, the bird needs to be on our left of the frame. Actually well to the left. Love the magenta in the sand.

with love, artie

Low that's the way to go. I do like the repost with the bird slightly off center. Nice preening pose.
