This is an image from my reptile catagory of the IFC contest. Here I went with a shallow DOF to just highlight the eye of the anole.

Great image!
The shallow dof works really well, nice colours and no distractions making the eye impossible not to be drawn into.

Holy moly, did you nail that DOF or what?!!! Goodness gracious that makes me swoon! I love the curve of the leaf and those greens!!! Golly but this is sweet!

Hi Robert - The selective focus here has emphasized that eye beautifully!! So much so that I am left wanting a closer approach :). Very well done!!
Wow thats a huge macro lens :D

Well composed frame. Good details & colours. Nice BG too. The DOF u've chosen has indeed accomplish what u wanted - i.e. to emphasize the eye. But I'm somehow still left wanting to see the snout in focus too...

I indeed captured the image with greater DOF and it changes the entire feel by biringing BG & FG elements into play competing with the subject.. They were fine as well but I prefered the dreamy quality with the shallow DOF...

Excellent composition and image Robert.
I like the angle of capture with the out of focus perch or leaf. The eye contact is dead on and crystal clear...big congrats...I like this very much...

Great job isolating the focus on the eye. However I still wish the nose were in focus. I guess I am too much of a traditionalist.
