i just knew there was a backlit squirrel somewhere and it probably was in your yard.(smile)

I keep looking at the image and wonder if it should be cropped into a horizontal by cutting it immediately above the tail. I like the overall squirrel better that way, but a tailless squirrel doesn't really make it. Too bad the tail wasn't over it's back where it is supposed to be. Does this guy look like he has the summer doldrums???

Seriously -- it is a great image. Love the light coming through the ears, and through the hairs on the back.
Well done. Thanks for sharing.

a tailless squirrel just looks like a rat!!!!:D so i'd leave the tail. i might lighten the squirrel just a tad. he looks a little dark. very sharp!!

Gail, LOL have quite a few BL sq images just going for recent. Squirrels often let their tails hang when they are relaxed so the position looks quite natural to me.

Here's a mom sq really relaxed:D I have images of them draped over branches and other very undignified positions.

This youngster was just enjoying the morning sun and this seems to be one of their favorite spots. Thanks and glad you like the image!

I too think he is a bit dark. Love it as presented...they are so often busy, I love the contemplative look on him. He deffinately needs his tail.

Nice little pet Nonda,
What do you feed him to keep him in your yard? I like your repost better. The composition works for me...

Gus they move around, don't stay in our yard all the time, but most are here everyday for a bit. Course with the two big oaks, two big walnut trees and the neighbors hickory trees they are pretty much good to go food wise.:) They do have a feeding station and we put out food twice a day, not much, but they enjoy the snacks I guess.

Nonda, your repost does seem to be better, although I don't find the original particularly dark. I think Harold's attempt is a tiny little bit too bright. Sorry Harold :)

Repost is definitely better! Nicer, more even lighting is always a good thing. Great pose and wonderful subject! I loves me some squirrels!
