I captured this image recently along Joe Overstreet Road in Kenansville, Florida. Not sure what the frog is, I don't recognize it and still trying to identify it. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Hey Joe, Another nice one. I could do with a bit less head turn. I will try to get Andrew McLachlan to ID it. It might be a toad ...

with love, artie

Hi Joe / Arthur....it looks like an Eastern Narrowmouth Toad (Gastrophryne carolinensis). They reach a length of about 1- 1.25 inches, so given the size of a Loggerhead Shrike compared to the prey size and the pointed snout of the toad I am certain that is what it is. Nice catch BTW :)

Hi Andrew, thank you for responding and identifying the toad. I was thinking frog and most likely would have missed on toad. Your help is very much appreciated.

Well captured Joe...now if the barbed wire was rusty, this would have taken it up a few notches....Bird and prey look good.

What a catch. I like the barbed wire perch. A killer background for sure. Nice detail on the bird.
