This picture was shot in Costa Rica just as the sun came over the horizon through a slit in the clouds. The light was very yellow for about 5 minutes. This shot, of two Green Heron fledglings, was taken with an R5, 100-500 RF+1.4extender at 700 mm, handheld from a boat. f/10, 1/640/ ISO 6400. Processed in DPP4, run through DeNoise AI, and processed in PS CC. A small branch between the two birds was cloned out. My question is, what about the yellow?. I could certainly reduce it, but I think that was the true color at that time. For someone just looking at the picture though, how distracting is it? Any other thoughts?

I would cool this down some but chicks are sharp and at a great age..perch is not overwhelming. I would get rid of stem on the left and Denoise the BG.

love both of them with a great HA. the plumage looks a bit unnatural to me, doesn't look like a green heron as if too much noise reduction or highlight shadow adjustment has been applied and there is a strong yellow/red cast as you noted yourself. the BG is quite noisy and can use some NR. I am ok with the perch but would evict the thinner twigs running across the frame

I have reduced the yellow and red globally. I have run DeNoise twice (at start and end of PP). The fledglings are wet (rain) and immature (downy); hence the dull colors. Improvement or not?

color got better but the strong noise is still there.... you need to run NR on the BG. separately

Hi James, the image does have potential, but you need to get a better WB that ensures you don't start with any colour casts. This is just balancing out the RGB values and adding some NR all in LR. Not saying the colour is perfect, but it addresses both the cast and noise issue to a degree, even at 6400 it should be far better. Is this a crop?

Nice view of these youngsters. The repost is nice.
