This was from 2016 and my first outing with Gail to shoot loons in Iceland. It was magical in many ways. Here is da loon giving me a full wing spread as it flew off. I like the tucked toes and the water drops throughout. I cleaned up a second catchlight.

Well done, Ann. Great flight angle, that allows you to see both the striped nape and red throat.

Wow Ann, not many Loon-in-flight shots around but I'd imagine even less of the Red Throat.

Beautifully sharp, well lit and enough tilt in the 'pancake' wing pose to make this really great.

Enough variation and depth in the sky to beat a bright blue bkg.

You nailed it. Well done!

Really nice Ann!
I will never understand how you got this HA as the winds were blowing in the wrong direction that night. Every shot I have from that evening has a bad head angle!
My jealousy bone is throbbing!
Nice and sharp too. Well done!

Looks great with the pancake wing spread. The bird is nicely angled as well. The light was nice.

Well done Ann...not a shot you see everyday....I'm really liking the colour of the BG which shows the bird well...Nice HA, and good detail on the underwings...I would love to photograph these birds in flight....We get them here at this time of the year...but always too far and never in flight...

DATPA! This one is a stunner. The underwing detail is great. And the sharpness is over-the-top.

Note to Sump Scores: flat flight is usually fine with birds angling towards us. Pancakes are terrible when the birds are flying from side to side.

with love, artie
