Nankeen Kestrel ,taken several years ago with a Gecko just received from her mate. She managed to demolish the prey in about 10 slow gulps. I liked the background sand and empty swamp and the shadow on the old log. This is our smallest Falcon ,native to New Guinea as well. Used the car as the hide as never get near them otherwise.Always loved the soft colours in
Canon but went to the dark side to try to catch them and others in flight.

Ian:

The shadow lizard and her apparent grasp of it with the raised foot add to an already strong frame. Good color harmony, angle in frame, soft background.'

I might consider darkening the pupil just a bit, and look at a slightly tighter crop if the image quality will tolerate. Modest amount off the right, smaller amount off the top, bit off the left and bottom to reduce the impact of the log a bit. All these are just personal taste. The subject is so strong, would like to highlight it a bit more.

Cheers

Thanks Randy. I'll have a go at it tonight as our time is way out of sync.with you. Ii did think it might be a bit small in the frame . Thanks for the helpful comments.

sweet Ian, killer light and the lizard is the icing on the cake. I agree with Randy re tighter crop. the image is sharp but the details seem a bit smooth maybe due to excessive NR? excellent frame

Excellent shot with great interest value. To me it looks a bit hazy over all so I tried some clarity and dehaze and it did make a difference.

Very cool behavioral frame. What a catch. The light and background are sure great.
