Tried out a different location today and it appears the ever growing Manchester Parakeet population has left 2 residents at this reserve. Very happy when one of them decided to check out what the big white thing was that kept getting pointed at them!

Hi Mike ... a real cool portrait of this lovely bird .
They can be really cool characters and many times very comical .
Comp works really well here ...
Hope you are getting your grips onto the new toys ...
For technical details .... I fired you a message .

Cheers Jon,

No, this is at a reserve close to me called Reddish Vale.

Most of the Manchester parakeets are around Platt Lane park, Fog Lane park or Fletcher Moss. It wouldn't surprise me to see them at Dunham Massey as that's the kind of range they're now spreading to. I've heard of another pair near to me and they were on my 'to-do' list but I think these 2 might be better - never seen them come so close to a human before (Is that a good thing..?)

Mike, I love how unique this is. How often do we see the subject entering from the top? Awesome!

Stoked to see the R5 getting some reps in your hands. The detail is fantastic for me and the smooth bkg presents beautifully.

I feel like it could maybe use the slightest punch in sat and maybe a dab of contrast. Perhaps maybe a bit of extra dof would keep details from falling off, but I'd take it like this too Mike.

A beauty, tfs!

Love the crop you chose.
I think this could use a punch in contrast and maybe some punch in the neutrals in selective coloring.
How are you liking the R5?

Cheers Brian, it is certainly a cracking camera, no doubt it'l get a few more clicks on it between work days. I agree with a bit more lunch, I had a conversation with Andreas with a few tweaks, it was improved some more in the ways you suggest

cheers

Cheers foe that Gail, as I replied to Brian above, Andreas helped out with a slightly more punchy version and also a nice couple of PP tips, so yes I agree with your thoughts.

R5 is great, still feel I'm just scratching the surface with it though

I like the colors and Diagonal orientation in the frame.
