If you chase the latest and greatest, sell your stuff.
50mp, 30fps.
It sounds pretty amazing although I have Burst crazy shooting friends who better strap
a hard drive on their backs....

Indeed it is a power house, it's a 50 mega pixel video camera with real time tracking, and unlike Canon, Sony's tech actually works :D I am a bit worried about noise, should have this bad boy soon and test it out. :)

some of the spec is border line science fiction like 9 mega pixel EVF with 240 fps refresh rate and 120 fps AF tracking.

At $6500 it is an investment but at the same time makes both the D6 and the 1DX III look like a joke asking for the same amount of money for decade old tech in comparison

It has me tempted.. Sony really pushing it, they are leaving everyone behind, If I were pro or young, I would switch.
Sony lens good, light, not cheap but first rate.
They over sell eye detect and stuff like that and 30 fps is awesome but at 50mp a pop, not realistic for
most use.
But everyone else is behind.
It still takes "being there" over equipment. Fieldcraft over tech.

current Sony cameras detect only human and pet eyes, it works 99% of the time for these subjects I'd say so not a gimmick but I am interested to see how it works for birds and can it track a darting kestrel or not. what if the bird turns its head ? We will see if it is reliable for action

I think I will have it set to 20 fps for every day use and 30 fps when there are multiple birds/interactions....but I cannot stop thinking about it it is a 50 mega pixel video camera....really crazy.

I am 100% with you that no amount of tech will make up for the talent and field craft, camera is just a tool

on the plus side camera like this will be at the top for many years to come....

I will share my findings here once I get it

cheers

Update: Sony was not over-selling the bird/face eye detection at all. And of course, it has long had Bird as a subject.

yeah it works great, it's not 100% for all the species but works most of the time. even when it doesn't detect the eye socket it tracks the head anyway which is good enough 99.9% of the time...I think the A1 made the AF trivial and somewhat diminished some of the hard earned craft in this regard.....
