Hi folks .... going the cat route , sorry Steve , to follow your track :bg3:
Was just by " bad luck " ....
But as you like cats it might be ok with you .
This little fella was photographed in the Khwai concession of Botswana . Look at those eyes :w3:S3:

Canon EOS 1Dx II
EF 500 IS L II
HH

F 6,3 ; Iso 3200 ; 1/1600 sec ; with hindsight going F8 might have been better for a tiny bit more DOF

Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2021 ; 80 % of FF ; cropped for comp from all sides

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous thread

Cheers Andreas

Andreas, I feel similar towards this as I do to Steve's leopard, quality is excellent (lovely eyes too!) but I do not engage with the cub, I also feel he is rather large in the frame though I understand this may have been necessary to exclude undesirable elements.

I like the concept/capture Andreas and having the curled tongue just adds so much, you just wonder what the cub was thinking. Overall good detail as expected. Personally I might just blow some colour in on the very lighter areas on the top trim, but it's the lighter rear of the cub that draws my eye, not sure what you can do there? Like the grasses by the chin and the crop works nicely with the format of the pose.

Thanks Steve ... was thinking about the belly of the other cub , but left it . The same with the lighter back of the main cub .... easy fix just burn :S3: it to some degree and it's gone :t3.
He thought .... time for another drink at mummy's bar :eek3: .... maybe . Who knows ???

I like the pose with that tongue, very neat. A nice portrait. Image quality looks very good.

The eyes and tongue make this Andreas. Maybe clone the bright spot above the left ear. The spot behind the cat at first I thought it was a rock intersecting. It is distracting . Details look good and sharp. Again love the stare and eyes. TFS

Thanks John and Kevin for your comments , much appreciated .

Kevin - I can blend the " rock " a tiny bit , but would not remove it and I do not find it distracting . For me personally the cuteness of the cub is too strong to think about the not ideal BLOB .

A strong portrait Andreas, love the expression from the cub. You managed to capture the cuteness and innocence typical of the species at this young age: they are inquisitive, bold, ready to play and explore their surroundings.

Techs look good. Like you said, a bit more dof would have been better, but not a big issue. Nice detail where it matters. Colours look natural. Composition also works well with lots of space for the cub to look into. Well processed, as expected.

Overall a very attractive image with huge cuteness factor, I truly enjoyed viewing.

Hope you have a great weekend Andreas, thank you for sharing

Kind regards,
