I got this little guy in the back garden, I was quite surprised how much orange/tan colour there was in his coat. The shiny stuff is ice on the grass, I popped a sprig of ivy there just for you Steve.

Morning Jon, overall I find the capture a bit too big in frame, a bit more all round, well certainly to the LHS wouldn't hurt. As much as I'm flattered that you thought of me and added in some ivy (poison? :bg3:) I don't feel it adds much and to a degree, it a bit distracting. Because the subject is 'in your face' some more DoF for the log and grass, so a lot more is in focus. In addition getting some more depth and tone below in that area adds, it's a bit 'wishy washy' in appearance. I might remove the single bit of ice and wood chip in the middle doesn't add.

Just my take, lets see what others say, pouring with rain here, so much for the snow!!!!

Hi Jon .... a cute character , and the look into the camera is great .
Pose is working well .
For me it is too tight and the ivy is not helping in this case , IMHO .
Tones looking good and you have some nice fine details .
Colors are looking somehow not " correct " in parts , I am referring the " pinks, reds, magenta's " in the squirrel and the log . Not sure what causes this ...you have the file :w3

Ok you convinced me, the colour is off, I was sure I had it correctly interpreted but no I should have looked more carefully at the log, the original conversion had too much magenta. .... I still like it as a subject, I think it is a good candid photo, no prize winner but it has a certain appeal to me.

Interesting Jon, as the grey fur is almost bang on, so did you do any ‘colour work’ whatever that might be below the squirrel? But how would it affect the fur??? I do feel when shooting this close, a lot more should be in focus. If the opportunity arises again, be nice to a comparison?

Steve I was convinced I had the correct colour temp , but I should have taken time to look at the magenta value, if I had I would have done a second check - magenta was miles too high.
