Hi Kurt, Very sweet light, killer BG and perfect takeoff pose. Only very minor improvement would be complete separation from perch. TFS

One more inch away from the perch and just a tad more sharpness and you are Alan Murphy.....

Kurt, these shots are not very easy to capture so kudos on that for sure!!
Looks like a nice backdrop and cool takeoff pose.
I think it just missed critical sharpness, as perhaps 1/5000 even isn't quite enough for this little sprite but this is a frame I'd keep for sure.

Well done Kurt...not an easy shot..I think you did well considering how fast these are at take off. I am curious as to where the focus point was, I think the sharpness on the head isn't quite there.

I do see some subtle subject motion on this fast little songbird, but I like the take-off pose, BG, comp.

I am late to the party but agree with a bit of motion blur and it would have been awesome to have it a bit futhere away from the perch.
Still a great shot!

Great action pose! Lighting and background are great, but a bit more separation from the perch would be ideal. Is this a set-up? If yes you should get more chances!
