Hi folks .... digging deep in the archive to find this image from 2010.
Taken with the old 800 mm gun from Canon .
Techs I have used at that time ....well funny looking .... as things have changed drastically over the years . Photography is a permanent learning curve , IMHO .

This little critter was very busy , getting the work done with the mussel .

Canon EOS 1D MK IV
EF 5,6 800 mm
Tripod

F 10 ; Iso 800 ; 1/800 sec , man exp

Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2021 ; slightly cropped for composition

Thanks for looking and commenting

Cheers Andreas

Wow, that is a big gun... How much did it weigh? Love the light and low angle but why stopped down so far(one full stop)? Sharpness, perhaps? Like the behavior and the water BG. Beach is busy but all natural, so fine with me. Wish for better head angle but I like the behavior, so a wash. TFS

The behavior is very nice as this is exactly how these guys forage. Cluttered beach is a bit busy. Did you select f/10 to try to get more of it in focus? Exposure and detail look really good, and the brilliant
sunlight lent the full color saturation I'm always seeking in my own frames.

Thanks David and Dorian for your comment , much appreciated .

F10 ... well my thinking at that time was to stop down for a higher quality in the image and for sure to gain some DOF . AS I was close to the subject and the 800 mm lens has a narrow DOF at close range .

Nice light and tug o war action here. Framing is right on. Typical setting for these guys.
