Just back from a few days away, and managed to get this Brahminy Kite speeding across the water.

Nikon D500/500PF, 1/2500th sec, f5.6, ISO1000, manual mode HH. Cheers.

Paul:

Nicely exposed, good head turn, eye contact.

Wish he was banked a bit more towards us, to give a cleaner view of the head/neck.

Lovely water.

Cheers

Excellent flight capture, Paul. Neat feather detail throughout, and nice slight head turn.

Paul, beautiful bird. Love seeing species from across the pond.

The color contrast between deep browns/reds and the blues is fantastic.

Stare of the Kite is intense; only wish we'd get a bit of wing down position so as not to block part of the head/neck.

Though I've not viewed this species in person, looks nicely processed from here.

Cool, I like it! The glance-back saved the image, good thing! I kinda like the wings as they are here as I get the sensation of a light bird gliding "kite-like" against the wind pushing back on it - but I do see what the boys mean as well in regards to the neck. I love the single white feather on the tail. A minor point is that I'd look into making the pupil darker, or more prominent (done judiciously as it is easy to spoil an eye by overworking it). Very captivating frame!

I love that single white feather on the tail!
Agree with others about the head/neck issue.
The water color is really unusual -in a good way.
Nice to get a glimpse of the talons,
Gail

Very Nice post. I like the background colors.

I would sharpen the head a little bit more.
