Be warned .... seen you !!

Hi folks , another marmot from Filzmoos in Austria .
This guy was sitting in front of one of their den entries .... checking the area before telling the others that it is safe to come out .
As he saw me .... he started to give the warning call , albeit seen me few minutes before in the spot and position of mine .

Processed with C1 and PSCC 2021 ; cropped for comp from all sides , do not like the clutter in the FG ..... but wanted to avoid hefty cloning or clean up . Left the colors dull this time , as it does fit better to the original natural scene :S3:

A fine shot, I like the behavioural aspect,, I am sure his coat is dirty, I see reddish colouration on his chest, I have a slightly uneasy feeling there is some green/yellow in his grey areas.... may just be me.

Hi Jon .... thanks for your comment .
The reddish color is normal at that location , due to the soil . And your eyes are correct about the green/yellow in the " grey " parts .... more yellow than green . Use the eyedropper in LAB mode and you see the the very slight - value in the A channel and the more + value in the B channel .... showing your color view .

A 'Rock Marmot"! I find them very cute, would love to photograph them too :S3: Well framed and the alert pose and visible teeth make the image for me. I also like the den, looks pretty cool with all those ferns!

IQ and detail looking good at 16K ISO - well taken and processed, Andreas. I understand the reasons for the red coloration in the fur, but what do you think caused the green/yellow cast? WB issue, or a tint in the coat from foraging through green vegetation?

And lastly, when the others came out of the den, did you see any young among them?

Gabriela - the color is coming from my processing in terms of " the cast " .... if you would like to say it is my " fault " :bg3:. And can be changed ....with ease .
Regarding the others .... they did not come out , as they are having many entrances ..... and the youngsters were quite big , it was the end of the season close to hibernation . So no tiny little sweet marmots to see .....

Granted the high ISO, you've still managed to extract some nice detail here Andreas, a great subject we haven't seen much of in Wildlife.

Well for ISO 16,000, the image quality looks very nice. I like the framing. Nice view of those little paws.
