This will probably draw out some more high ISO images perhaps, but in the meantime...

So the shot was taken just after midnight, forgot to change the time on the camera, so 23.06pm, plus an hours so just past midnight, in the 24hr light. Geared up, we embarked into the zodiacs and headed to a small spit that had around 25-30 Walruses. Unlike most animal approaches, making a noise, chatting is a given, as the walrus know you are there, their eye sight is poor, but you do not want to spook them as they all go. Perhaps not the greatest subject to photograph as they constantly have a snooty nose and lots of excess gas!!!!!

This one (AKA Derek) was curious and thought he would investigate, but hauling all that weight within 2-3m of moving he realised it was all too much and stopped, this would take too much effort and for him we were just not worth it.

Used the camera bag as support, pushing elbows into the soft shingle, snow capped mountains in the BKG, pin sharp for ISO10k.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

Nice shot of the principal walrus, not at all keen on the mountains one looks like the roof of a house! I think a crop off the top looks good maybe 1.5 in.

Hi Steve .... still a great pleasure to watch your work , from the pure technical POV !!!!! :5:5

Main subject is nicely separated and the walrus headache is a nice bonus .... maybe toning the single tusk makes this thing less eye catching .
Superb high iso IQ ... but expected it from you.
Love the colors and the tones .

That walrus looks pretty tired. Detail looks great for the ISO. Nice low angle and framing.

Awesome IQ for 10K ISO and it's super sharp, Steve

Beautifully composed and colours are superb, great PP work as expected.

Love the main character, looks like he means business! How did you come up with the name, LOL.

Enjoyed viewing, very much. The other walrus behind Derek made me smile:S3:

Steve there must be a typo with iso readings, it should be 1000.

Fantastic details !

IQ is top notch and and colours look so good, even though I have never seen them in the field.

framing is a bit busy but such good image quality makes for most of the things.

Nicely done, TFS !
