This Hawk Owl moves very fast when in flight. He is just over a foot in length, so a small target to follow.

I had trouble with the camera grabbing focus on the thistles instead of the Owl. Was happy to see this photo while going through my shots of the day.

You are really skilled at these flight images Jody. The one chance I had to get this guy in flight I totally dropped the ball. I guess I just need more practise ;) Great capture.

Cool shot, Jody! I like the snowy bg and the shadow is priceless. Sometimes you can bump the focus to avoid focusing on the fg elements.

Jody
I've seen many Hawk Owl images posted but you always seem to capture them differently than the others. Well done......it's always a treat to see what you have shot.

The eyes and the shadow make this one for me. It is a pity that the thistle is merged with the wing of the bird...but that's a minor thing. I'd love to photograph these one day.

Very nice shot. Wish the left plant was not in the frame.
Love the shadow on the snow.
