From Tobago in 2016. Shot from the balcony of our inn, in the rain on a dark afternoon. Conditions led to a less than ideal IQ (the old D7200 didn't handle high ISO very well), but I liked the pose and perch.

D7200, 500f4 + 1.4 TC, ISO 2500, 1/2500s @ f/7.1 manual, SB-700 fill @ -2.0 EV.

The colorful bird and bloom are striking, and the rain really adds a lot. As you point out, IQ suffered a bunch at the higher ISO....

Hi Bill, a nice frame, but there is no detail or clarity to define both perch and subject. ISO 2500 isn't high by any stretch even for older bodies I feel Bill, as you have a fast SS and good DoF, however the image just appears to be completely flattened by what looks like NR, creating a totally smooth image. The rain is cool, but you need a much slower SS and the DoF more around f/5.6 go higher and it's lost in the DoF.

Love the rain and the perch but the IQ on the bird has really suffered for some reason.
Love its upside down pose.
This is such a pretty image that I think a complete revamp in PP is warranted,

I agree with the others, and while you re-process the image (should you choose to do so), you would also need to clean up the faint clone mark between the petal's tip and the bird's foot. Excellent colours, and a fun pose. The rain adds a neat element as well.

Thank you all for the comments. I went back to the original RAW file and started from scratch, using some Topaz AI tools, and a slightly looser crop. Not perfect given the dark rainy conditions, but better I think.

Well captured under the overcast rainy afternoon we had. Beautifully composed and just the right amount of ff. Like the clinging pose, rain, and drops sticking to him. Excellent repost production.

t5he repost is much better the loss of IQ from NR is still visible but at least it's not as bad as the original
