Facing one way on the pier looking for birds...I turned around and saw the Tern...a bit of a grab shot, but I'm happy with it. Looks like some of the fish was filleted beforehand! I used luminosity masks to reduce highlights on the tail and wing edges, but I actually don't mind the pastel feel here. Cheers.

Paul - good job on the highlights but I would also address the darks, I think they are lacking in detail.

Thanks Jonathan...I assume you're referring to the wing area? I'll have a look at re-processing the raw file. Cheers.

Very nice grab shot, I'd say. I like the overall soft feel of this canvas and the slight head turn mitigates the bird being slightly past you. Yes, the shadows could be raised but only slightly more. I love this canvas overall and the monotone feel makes the bill and the prey's tail pop moving us to the heart of the action. TFS

The fish is nice. Also love the title. Would up the exposure a little.

Love the soft light. Do not like the filleted fish or the wing position or that the bird is angling away from you.

The 500 PF cannot help you with any of those problems.

BTW, I watched an Alan Murphy webinar and he too does not like this wing position. If the bird is flying at you, it can work.

with love, artie
