The night before, while returning from my bike ride as it was getting dark, spotted my now older fledgling on the bank. It was too dark to try. Last night my ride was cut short as they closed the greenway (bike path) at a local park due to approaching hurricane. So, just as the sun set and twilight began, spotted my old friend on the very same bank. Same immature plumage but no longer goofy and much more wary. Used the guard rail as a blind and this young beauty went back about business. Love that large owl like pupil as this yellow-crowned night heron begins it's day.

Solid image of this night heron.
I wish for more room below and I would clone out the OOF blade of grass on the RH side.
Is that a little bug on his eye? if it is, how strange that hte heron tolerates it there.
I think I would add a touch of contrast and tweak the curve layer a bit.
TFS,
Gail

Hi David,
Agree w Gail's suggestions and there seems to be off coloring here... magenta cast? there are pink splotches here and there. Looking forward to repost

Thanks astute ladies for your very valued inputs. Since I don't see colors accurately, gotta remember not to mess with them. So, I know in low light with AWB there is usually magenta cast, I reduced magenta a couple points and warmed the temp a couple points. I also boosted the contrast a little more. I have no more on the bottom and the eye has very clear reflection of the entire post sunset horizon which looks much better when not compressed this far. Possibly that's the bug you are seeing. Please let me know if the colors are better or worse and thanks as always for your very valued input.

The colours certainly are warmer in the repost. It can be tricky during low light as there are varying degrees of "warmth" as the time goes on, so almost any of them can be technically correct. I agree with more room below, as the feet are quite close to touching the bottom edge. You got some nice details!
