A Red Grouse from my usual location at Glen Quaich in Perthshire. I liked the look back pose of this one as he perched on the rock, looking proud, as he watched over the Glen. Handheld. ACR and PS2020.

Hi Will. nice image that shows the Red Grouse at it's best. I would think a unusual perch for a grouse but it brings the bird up from the bushes and grass. Good color and details, wonderful background. Thank you for sharing.

Absolute cracker Will - composition pose colours you nailed it.
The only thing I have any reservation over is the wattle it looks a bit crunchy as do the lores - maybe a luminosity adjustment will fix that.

Hello Will, This guy means business, so regal, quite a specimen! Wonderful work, agree w Jon's suggestion.

I thought "regal" at first, then read Ann's comment...need to find another adjective now. I'll go with "stately". Great pose, perch, BG. Well done Will.

The feather detail is super, especially in a relatively "plump" bird at f/6.3. I would certainly be proud of this shot.

Thanks All for the comments...Much appreciated...I have a few frames of the same bird in different poses, I'll keep in mind about the wattle and lores...

Wonderful composition Will.

Digging the smooth bkg colors and transition, beautiful detail and processing on the subject. I do also see a touch of the aforementioned signs of sharpening.

Otherwise superb and would love to have a frame like this!

Hi Will very nice, cool BKG and overall colour palette. Not sure how you can tell on the wattle at this size, but... Perhaps a third of a stop down, just looking at the whites of the feet, or perhaps 'burn' some more exposure in.

Think I will grab a few days up and see what the Grouse are doing before the 12th!!!! BTW Neil McN has gone to Nikon, ooh dear, silly boy. :w3
