From Flatey Island in 2016. I have a number of frames of these guys against clean backgrounds, but while weeding out my files I came across this one where he is approaching his burrow with a treat for the kids. Full frame.

Hi Bill,
well done, i like the comp, and it has many goodies, love the eel/fishy, and eye contact along with the fire engine red mouth. Sweet purple flowers and lichen and moss, EXP spot on, clean BG, love Flatey, terrific.

This is very good Bill.
Love the slight head tilt and the prey item.
Flowers add a very nice touch. These guys are hard to expose for properly and even more so in harsher light so you did well,
Gail

Both you and the Guillemot have a nice capture, Bill. Like the Icelandic setting. Nice handling of the harsh light, and excellent background.

A very nice frame Bill. A lot to like here, nice head turn and good view of the feet. I like the background and the flowers add to the scene. An excellent treat for the kids.

You held onto to this awhile... very nice, bird and prey...

Bill, the colors on left in flowers and the feet really add to this one. The eel (?) is crazy cool!

I was thrown a bit at first at the transition of the coarse black to the more velvety sections as there's not much detail in the latter. After some research I understand their feathers do have a more velvety sheen, sans when they are wet.

Love the composition too. Well done.

Don't know how these are "supposed" to look - but it sure looks good. Those red feet and red mouth - wow. TFS.

Thank you all. Your comments are always appreciated. The prey item is locally called a Butterfish on Flatey Island, although the American (Atlantic) Butterfish is a totally different critter. I think this guy is known elsewhere as a Rock Gunnel (Pholis gunnellus).
