My goal is to get a little closer and increase some of the fine detail; cropped here over 50% on the 45mp RAW. The bank and the bkg made this one worth processing for me however.

Also would have bumped SS a stop or two. Not really sure why I was at 1/2000 here as the next shots were at 1/3200, unless I bumped the dial while repositioning. Exposure was a bit high but manageable.

LR and PS, DNAI. Smoothed and warmed bkg a bit, levels, curves, colors adj as usual.

Excellent topside view. 1/2000 not fast enough for them as you can tell, Nice head turn.
BG is pretty bright.....

Back ground is really nice. Touch too saturated for me. Sharp on the eye.

Agree with higher shutter speed.

Nice action frame, these guys are fast! Eye contact is great, and I don't mind the saturation because bold color is right in my wheelhouse. Apart from the minor SS consideration
you mentioned, my only issue the is lack of DOF across the wings. But that's not you fault as you captured the pose the bird gave you.

A great pose from a speedy bird. I personally like the saturation as posted. Apart from the SS, it looks very fine to me.

Love that look you're getting and the spread tail is killer. TFS

Great job tracking this speedy bird in flight. I love the tail spread and the banking pose. Yes to a faster SS. I personally love the contrast and saturation. Very nice overall. TFS Brian!

Appreciate the comments everyone.
Just to be clear, I wouldn't normally set my SS at 1/2000 going out looking for Killdeer

Beautiful pose and look. I like the saturated background, and what a plus to get the open tail feathers.

A great view of the dorsal patterns. That tail! Too bad it didn't bank even more, but that is asking for a lot.

cool frame, you got away with SS but I wish the wings were just a bit sharper and the tail was fully fanned. BG is great
