Adult black crowned night heron

After the heated debate with Artie :D I decided to give the 2-6 a second chance, thinking my lens might be a lemon I sent it back and ordered a new one. Replacement arrived quickly thanks to B&H and it took me 10 seconds to conclude my first lens was indeed.... a lemon.... perhaps damaged in shipping. It wasn't making any noises or anything like that but perhaps one or two element were misaligned in it. The new one is *much* better in terms of sharpness and it's probably similar to what Artie has. Tried it out on live subjects today...not bad at all ,even with the 1.4X TC. Usually zoom + TC is a disaster for AF but not for the A9II. It's no 600 f/4 GM but it is certainly more than just usable. More importantly definitely the best lens out there for $2000. It will have a place in my bag... Hope you like this frame

wish the BG was all blue

Sony A9 II + 200-600 GM + 1.4X TC. 840mm f/9 1/3200 sec hand held processed with C1P.

Image quality is very good. Like the eye. Agree with background all blue.

Question:- If my understand is correct 200-600 is f/6.3 at 600mm, then with TC how can it be 840 with f/8 ? Am I missing something ?

I really like this Arash. Nice banking pose with great light. Techs are spot on. I agree with the self-critique re: the background, but other than that, it's a solid frame!

Ari, wonderful detail and solid pose.

There is just a lot of yellow on the bird for me, both screens. I've seen and shot quite a few here but never with such a strong yellow presence.

thanks Brian but that’s how exactly they look like here. Yours might be different not sure and I wouldn’t call it a lot of yellow.

I like the image and I like the lens. Glad that you got the bad one replaced. I would not expect it to be quite as good as the 600 GM as it costs only 15% of the weapon of mass destruction ...

with love, artie
