These five were part of a much larger group of fledged Purple Martins that were perching and flying everywhere. This particular fivesome looked good all lined up diagonally on a maple branch. Closing the aperture two full stops to make sure all five were sharp, and waiting for cooperation on good head angles from all were two important things to think about to make it a successful frame. At least they stayed there for a while!

Very nice work getting 5 in nice poses.
This looks very warm, maybe that was the light but it seems too warm to me
for Martins.

Thanks! Yep, about 20 minutes after sunrise with that rich warm light.

So cool Daniel.

I'm not familiar with Martins, but appears maybe a type of swallow?

Daniel:

Fun image, with four looking in the same direction, and mr. fluffy contrarian looking his own way. Perch nice, leaves add without overpowering the birds. Nice job on DOF.

Cheers

Super shot Dan, the birds are in the right place and so are the leaves.

Thanks guys!

Artie, for sure the top four birds are juvies. The bottom one perhaps one is of the earliest hatched, but it does look "older". It did behave similarly as the others as food approached.

This is such a fun frame Daniel. 5 birds and all sharp. Love the soft light.

Hi Dan, wonderful image, five birds lined up perfectly. The Maple leaves bring back memories when I lived north. I also was thinking a little too warm when I first saw the image but you were there. Thank you for sharing.

Great job on getting them all sharp. It's nice when everything comes together to create an image like this. Well done Daniel.

The position and pose of all five plus the maple leaves hand held at FF... You have the patience of a saint... Not to mention the skills... TFS
