Volkan:

Dramatic picture, with ultra low shooting angle, that brilliant eye and soft bg.

The image quality of the bird is somewhat soft. I would have guessed noise reduction based on how smoothed out the details are, but I assume none was needed at that ISO. So, then you think about a large crop? Should not have been any motion blur at that shutter speed.

So, please share some more details, including the crop, and I am also curious if you were in a floating hide, or shooting from the shore?

Thanks

Randy

Hi Volkan,
I am not a Canon guy so I really cannot say what is the problem.
You have a great shooting angle, it is soft and the 2nd post
looks soft also.
Some Canon person will help.

I love the ultra low angle. The subject placement is unconventional, but I think it works in this case, mostly due to the head pointing down. Great red eye. I'd love to see this posted larger though as it is too small to critically judge sharpness (although the eye looks tack sharp to me).

At 1/4000s. the image of the mallard in the repost should be sharp. Perhaps some slight heat shimmer if there was hot air meeting cold water (or vice versa). As an aside, I do note the focus point on the breast, try as best as possible to have it on or around the eye for better consistency in focus accuracy.

I love the low POV and the image design but the IQ on the duck is not good. Was your focus point on the eye/head?
Your settings are very odd.
For this situation, I would have been at ISO 1600 F 8 and SS of 1/1000. Is the ISO in your post correct?
Good advice from Daniel and others,
Gail

Hi Volkan .... looking at the image in pane 3 , i might adjust the AFMA . Maybe the kit need to be calibrated to get proper focus . At least I cannot see a sharp focal plane .... but for sure a screen shot is not great for judgement . If I like at the eye I think it looks like motion blur ??? But that does seem strange at 1/4000 sec .

Regarding the OP ... love the low angle and the super smooth FG and BG , the contrast is a wee bit heavy for my taste and the blacks are bit heavy .

The low angle is nice. The water looks almost like metal to me.
