My first encounter with a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. I'm a couple hundred miles out of their normal range. It was hunting along the shore of a lake dam.
Taken out of the window of my vehicle, it didn't seem to mind me following close behind. I have quite a few images with water backdrops but I prefer greens over
blues. Full frame. Straight size reduction, no sharpening applied.

Darn... I just notice that little twig on the bottom. It will be removed.

Love the light and the direction of light bringing us right to the face. The composition is spot on, especially full frame with that tail. Pretty much perfect for me. TFS

Hi Jack. Very nice! Lovely looking bird neatly positioned in the frame with the tail shape completing the arch. TFS

This is a gem of a capture, Jack. Nice light with good subtle colors showing clearly. I've been in their breeding season territory and not able to get a good close image as nice as yours. Well done.

dExcellently done. Perfect framing, soft light, and a sweet BKGR. The messy end of the perch (by the undertail coverts) is less than ideal. Love the pose and the head angle too.

with love, artie

Very attractive image, the tail coverts and base of the tail look rather dense I wonder if a little detail could be extracted there?
