Hi folks ... due to my avian shot limitations , another Gannet from the archive .
Image taken on Helgoland back in 2015
Canon EOS 1D MK IV
EF 100-400 IS L at 250 mm

F 7,1 ; Iso 200 ; 1/1250 sec
Processed with Capture One 20 and PSCC 2020 ; slightly cropped

Dramatic pose, framing works well, although I wouldn't object to a slightly looser crop ( sup. and to right) if available.
The shadowing gives it a nice sense of depth. Interesting iris detail.
A bit more DOF would have been nice for the tip of the bill.

Randy's comments are spot on for me, except the OOF bill tip doesn't matter for my taste. As Randy mentioned, the bright well lit iris is awesome. TFS

Nice shot Andreas, the bill tip is only slightly off focus, so I'll give you 9.

I see where you are coming from with suggestion of crop ... a bit tight on RHS and top of the frame . A looser crop would be a good alternative

You were close Andreas, but agree, it needs more DoF for the bill tip.

Thanks Steve ... at one spot on Helgoland , you can get very close to the gannets
