Species: Rose-ringed Parakeet
Date: December 2019
Location: Hawaii, Oahu (Fort DeBussy Beach Park in Waikiki)
Equipment: Nikon D4, Nikon 200-500mm VR
EXIF: ISO 2000 1/200 @ f/6.3
Processed in ON1 with very light noise reduction in Topaz DeNoise.

This action unfolded quickly in the urban park. I could hear the noisy chatter before this moment but it took me some time to realize that it was being caused by parakeets (introduced in Hawaii from India as far as I know). Ironically I used to see this species outside my bedroom window growing up in Mumbai so I guess I should have recognized them earlier :t3. The males have the collar while the females don't. The cackling female drove off the male within a few seconds. Most of my photos in this sequence have some motion blur in them or the male isn't in focus, this one struck the best balance between pose/action and sharpness.

A good interaction captured. What can be seen of the birds looks good but the foreground leaves are too overwhelming.
These birds have sure spread around, I have photographed them in India and Australia.

Nikhil:

Great interaction. Agree with Colin's comment about the foreground. If the image quality will hold up, I would crop away some of the foreground. I would also reduce the luminosity of the birds a bit, as well as the remaining leaves after the crop in the foreground.

Cheers

The expression on the top bid is great, but the surrounding foliage is really distracting. Given sharpness is struggling now, cropping in tighter is probably going to be tough.

Like the colors on this one. It does look a little soft. I like the story. Neat looking bird as well.

Nice interaction ... technically not working for me . The reason is simple ... none of the heads is in the focal plane . A killer for this image .
Colors looking nice
