The ripples and texture in that water look very cool. Nice head angle on the moorhen. Framing is right on.

I would go to 16X9 crop.. Attractive subject.

Exposure is perfect with lovely feather detail in the blacks.
I like the patterns in the water.
Just wish for a slightly lower POV .
Well done!

ditto all the comments above, nice dark and dark frame, I would move him a bit higher in the frame, a slightly lower angle would be even better

Nice one Jon...Colours on the bird look good. Well exposed. The colours on the bill give a nice wee colour boost.

These can be surprisingly skittish for such a common bird, so you've done well here with that head turn. Feather detail really well controlled.

Great color scheme with the bird looking very nice next to the dark water. Nice detail across the bird. Nice painterly water. TFS

Exposure looks perfect as there are lots of great details in the blacks. Yes to a lower POV but I know it's not always posable. Well done

Thanks very much everyone much appreciated. If I had got my tatty clothes on or had a plastic bag with me I would have gone for a lower angle, but unfortunately I was ankle deep in mud and bird ---- as it was.
