Hi folks ... sorry can't stop .

Next one from Kamtchatka , image taken at Kambalnaya River .
Posted another frame in color ...not long ago .

Canon EOS 1Dx
EF 500 IS L II
Tripod

F 5 ; Iso 6400 ; 1/1600 sec ; man exp and auto Iso

Processed with DPP and PSCC 2020 ; this time a slightly different approach . The Tritone was an intermediate step in the process .... finished with some blending modes ( soft light and another one ) , used locally !!

Would have wished for better eye contact ... but the big boy was focused on salmon :t3

Thansk for watching and commenting to my previous postings

Cheers Andreas

You are getting good at this Andreas. The image is packed with detail and action, it looks really effective. I see more detail in the snout and good detail in the eyes too.
(I still like the colour one though!)

Hello Andreas,

No need to stop, it's great that you experiment and share with us:S3:

I actually went to look again at the colour image of this bear to refresh my memory. For some reason I liked the colour version much more... To me the presence of the green in the BG and those colours and tones of the subject's fur created great visual impact. I do agree your conversion is done very well, yet the subject's eyes 'disappear' a bit, also not too fond of the water splash beneath his chin ( the bright area).

Let us see what the others say, and let's see some more from you Boetie. Thank you very much for this, enjoyed viewing and it made me think about stuff, like what is needed in order to create a successful conversion ( light, form, textures - all of which are more compelling than the subject matter itself, and a wide range of tonal values). I am learning :tinysmile_shy_t:

Have a great rest of the week,

Lots of action to this one. I like the processing here. Nice framing and love that splashing water all over the place. The bear looks very focused.
