Red Necked Falcon

Hi folks ... i am a rare visitor here , even more less a frequent " poster " .
But thought i can post something .... with feathers and no fur :bg3: .

Image taken in Etosha NP in Namibia along the main road through the park , was more like a snap shot as the road is busy and the flying subjects are quite sensitive because of all the traffic . Saw this falcon from a distance sitting , approached slowly but being disturbed by other cars that passed .
I know the shortcomings of this frame in terms of head angle and the perch isn't ideal .... but i just think it is lovely bird .
So i post it .

Hi Andreas, a lovely raptor indeed. Colours and PP look good. Perch is what it is but the OOF branch intersecting with the tail is an issue. But nothing we can do about it. Glad you got this. Cheers.

It is a beautiful bird, to be sure. I like the pose, and the multi-toned BG. I'm OK with the perch, but the oof branch is a real problem. It might be cloned out with some creative cloning, but would involve re-creating part of the bird which goes beyond many folks' PP ethics. Thank you for sharing such a lovely bird.

Nice to see again the 1DX nailing a falcon with some gorgeous detail and depth of tone. Colours look pretty cool and I like the two tone backdrop. The perch is what it is, it's natural, but the bummer is that LHC which just kills things, could you not have slightly moved position, as it would have been clear in the OVF?

Really dig the two toned background. Wish the falcon gave you just a hair more of a head turn. Yes a bummer about the tail. But that's nature for you.

I fully agree with your reservations ... sadly not changeable .
In the field i could not place the car better , as we were two in the car and both wanted to have a decent position for shooting . So a compromise for both was needed ...

Bill - thanks for nothing in the world i would do something you suggested .... i am not too bad in PP work , but this would also above my skills . And against my ethics .

Steve - i tried to go ever so slightly back with the car , if i show you the result .... you would laugh at me . Just the perch was left .... bird gone LOL!

Hi Andreas, welcome :bg3::w3. Good sharp detail on the Falcon, and the light has shown up the colours spot on. I like how the body of the Falcon follows the curve of the perch infront of him.

Lovely little falcon Andreas, they are quite skittish so well done in getting this shot. Really nice details and colours are superb, that blue sky behind the subject is awesome. Sharpness and detail, all in good measure - nice PP work Boetie:w3

I do understand you could not change position to avoid that branch... most avian species don't mind a vehicle going past at some speed but as soon as you stop...like you said, 'bird gone' :bg3:
