Captured this image down the shore on a small lake a couple of days ago. I like that he raised his head to get a better scan of the surroundings, giving me I nice profile display. It was clouded over helping to control the whites a bit more. C&C welcome.

Hi Geoff, the raised head adds interest, and yes, the overcast conditions has helped the whites. In turn, I feel the blacks on the neck could come out a bit more. Love the droplets on the back.

Nice you caught him with his head up. Yes the blacks are heavy. The framing is right on. Also like the ripply water.

Love the raised head. I agree that the blacks are blocked, particularly on the neck. The composition is nice too. A lower POV would've been better IMO if it were an option. TFS Geoffrey :S3:

The cloud helped the whites but hurt the blacks! These guys are always an exposure challenge though! I agree a lower perspective is necessary for shots of sitting waterfowl to really crack.

Thanks all, and I agree the blacks could come out a bit more.
