Eye On The Prize...

This image is a continuation to my previous post of a Purple Gallinule. The bird in this image has climbed the stem which bent as it neared the top where the blossoms grow. It eyes are fixed anticipating the ripe blossoms. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Hi Joe, I like the natural perch and diagonal of the reed, but I find the green a bit heavy and distracting, but not sure what you could have done. Overall it looks a bit bright, plus dialling in some negative exposure and Luminance on the legs helps, I wonder also about a tad less of blue on the subject?. You have a halo around the front and back of the bird, with some artefacts of cloning on the LHS of the flowers.

Another great Purple Gallinule shot; you certainly have cornered the market on these guys. I love the feet. I'm guessing that stopping down a stop or two wouldn't have brought the flowers into focus given their distance from the focal plane, and might have worsened the BG. Exposure looks pretty good to me, although I wonder what just a slight use of the S/H tool might open up the darks and tone down the feet and legs, just a touch. In any event I'd love to have this one.

The lighting and colors are outrageously good! Total envious as I have no photographed this species, well, at least not well enough to count! The feet are amazing, and the reed perch is the perfect setting for this
species. Had the bird acknowledged you with more head turn this would have been killer.

Just really digging these colors. They go great together. Nice view of those yellow feet. Like the framing and the diaganol perch.
