Hi all,

A New Zealand endemic, and famously, the world's only alpine parrot, the Kea. We found two of these birds on a rainy day and as they are quite curious they both came over to check out (and try to mess with) my camera after I laid down on the ground.

Camera: Nikon D500
Lens: 500mm f/4
Specs: 1/320 f/6.3 ISO 1,600

Thanks for looking and commenting on prior posts!

I really like this Alex. Great sharpness and detail, very pleasing BG and the clean catchlight is perfect. I just wish for more breathing space all around; as is, I think the bird's too large in the frame. Very nice!

Super detail. Yes, it's large in the frame but that's the idea, to show all that nice detail. I'm OK with it here. Crazy birds, these. When we were there some years ago I saw one come in and grab a trekker's entire sack lunch and take off with it.

Yes it is quite large in the frame. But i like it here. You can see the nice texture and detail in those feathers. Catchlight is great as well.

coll head shot Alex, very nice details, the tight framing works well with the head close up here

This is excellent Alex. I dipped on seeing these birds while in NZ.
IQ just leaps off the page with exquisite details.
No nits from me!

Thanks all, glad you like it. Bill, they really are characters, we saw one working a car's windshield wipers over pretty well! Best,
