Perhaps the most aptly named bird in history!

I suspect this free-flying subject may once have been captive as suggested by the green string on his right leg. He behaved naturally
in this instance, and no bait or lure was used.

No matter how much I whistled at him, he wouldn't give me more head turn than shown. Still thought the frame usable though.

Sun had set behind the ridge behind me, so I was happy to squeeze out a decent early-evening, flat-light result.

Canon 600mm f/4 IS II on EOS 1DX2
1/200 at f/8, ISO 2000, tripod (was pretty close so I wanted max DOF across the bird, even against dwindling light)
Processed in LR CC without trickery. Did remove a few small bright spots on rock

Colors and details on the bird look really nice. I also like the rock in the foreground

Terrific. Love the way you have squeezed the whole bird into that narrow DOF. Nothing wrong with that HA.

Lovely bird! Great detail, HA doesn't bother me at all. That light is just awesome. Personally, I'd like to see less of the distracting OOF rock and more of that beautiful green background at the top. I would also desaturate the blue in the eye, but that's totally personal preference. Looking forward to seeing more from your trip!

PS: Any idea what the green ring around the right leg signifies?

Very cool looking bird that pops against the BG. Perch is nice as is the selected DOF. HA looks okay to me although I see why you would want the more classic pose. Great to see a new bird. I would drop the EXP on the rock a little as its just a bit bright. TFS

I love your travel tours and unique birds... Nice for the iso and conditions, I would take a tad off the bottom..
