Captured this formation flight in Nov. 2019 at Bosque del Apache. C&C welcome.

D500, Sigma 150-600mm @ 500mm, 1/2500s, f 10, Handheld, ISO 1000.

Nice to have them in threes. More sepration would have been nice. But that is nature for you. Like the setting though.

I would dodge the dark areas in the BG .
I, too, wish the head of the front crane did not merge with the second crane's wing but otherwise an OK image.
Looks like you had some heat haze?

Such lovely birds, a species which has escaped my lens to this point. I like the reeds below, but the trees behind aren't blurred enough to make the cranes pop. f/10 certainly didn't help with that, but I imagine you wanted a decent DOF
to get the staggered birds in focus. There is also a lot of overlap between the subjects; more separation would be better. Colors also seem a bit flat given the bright sun.

Thanks John, Gail, and Dorian. Gail I took your advice and dodged the dark areas, and Dorian I blurred the background slightly. Not seeing the heat haze, Gail.
