Captured this image of a juvenile and adult on recent trip to the Bosque del Apache, C&C welcome.

D500, Sigma 150-600mm C @ 150mm, 1/2000s, f 6.3, ISO 500, Gitzo, Wimberley Gimbal head.

These cranes are gorgeous! I have to agree with David on both counts - in softer light, this would've been a very nice habitat shot. You've done well given the tough lighting conditions though. TFS.

I don't mind the light here; as I recall this was about 45 minutes before sunset. The habitat shows nicely, if just slightly cluttered behind the birds. I agree about the youngster's eye. Had his head turned just a fraction toward us it might have caught the light more, but the juvies' irises are darker than the adults and don't pop out as well (I have some similar shots of the two, with the same issue.)

Like the setting of this frame. The pose on the front bird is nice. Light looks pretty good as well.
