I like the idea. Bird is sharp, and warm tones make it stand out against the cool environment.

This setting is incredible, and I really like the use of negative space above the bird/ground. I just wish we could see a bit more of the subject, like it he/she was standing up. As good as the negative space is, it does feel empty with the bird crouched so low.

Yep splendid setting, really jealous, like it loads.

Oh boy, this is a stunner! Agreed with all the positives mentioned above. I like the crouched position as it conveys mood in that the bird doesn't look like it wants to be out in the cold:t3

Will:

Agree with others, a really fine image, striking, different. I do understand about wanting more bird, but the message I get is like Aditya mentioned.
Normally I don't like so much negative space above, but in this case it plays well, almost as if the weight of the cold weather is pushing down on the bird. Just an emotional reaction to the image, which is a great thing.

I get chills looking at this one. Hands down my favorite of these grouse images you have posted. Love the setting here and the bird small in the frame.

Late to the party but this is awesome. Definitely my favorite of your grouse images. The setting pose and negative space are awesome. TFS
