Hello John,

Thank you for another Elk image, I particularly like the rich brown colouring of the subject's coat and those textures really stand out for me. By the way he is tack sharp with great detail and HA is great.

Composition wise I find the frame quite tight at the bottom. Also, you might consider cropping just a few mm from the LHS where only a tiny bit of a tree trunk shows.

I like the green vegetation (FG as well as BG ) but that dark shadow - or tree trunk - in the BG is a little distracting (LHS of the frame).

Overall a nice image John, but I still prefer your previous ones because they have such nice separation between subject and BG:w3

PS Did you really have 1/3200s, or was it 1/320s? Not an issue, just not used to see such high SS from you:bg3:

Have a wonderful rest of the week,

Kind regards,

Pretty spot on John, very nice indeed. My only suggestion would be to tone back the tree trunk on the LHS and depending on ethics, remove the tree going diagonal into the back of the ELK.

Nice work.

Hi John — Nice work here and another handsome subject . Light looks pretty strong and not the ideal BKG , but your have made another lovely image inspite of those hurdles . Nice suggestion by Steve , especially regarding the tree running behind the back. I recently captured a Tiger image where a tree is emerging from its back, will post here soon , but in two minds on whether to remove the tree or leave it as it is. Its all up to you I guess in this case as well .

Nice one.

TFS !

A fine shot Jack, I like what Steve has done and shown the way. Good details and techs. Those horns are amazing.
