This beautiful drake swam right into the spot I was hoping very hard for. As these guys are skittish up here, I had to go the old fashioned stop and wait, and wait, and wait method for this one:bg3:.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2500s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop for comp, a few minor imperfections in the water removed via clone/patch/content aware.

A lovely capture with low POV, handsome bird, perfect head angle, and great water color. The touch of blue is a good contrast to the overall orange tones.

Excellent. I might consider a small crop from the top, just personal preference .
