Taken this morning. The bird landed with its back to me. As soon as it presented a profile pose I fired of a couple frames. It bolted immediately. Maybe a little hard to tell on compressed image but not quite as sharp as the last post.
I guess I'll give it another try. I'd like to get an image with a fish so I will try to more patient next time. Probably should have dropped the camera level to lower the ware line.

Amazing shot Jack! Love the raised crest. Comp is great too.
I agree with your self-critique re the BG. I see a slight blue cast that needs to be removed and I'd also increase the WB a touch. Tiny dust speck on the LHS that needs to be cloned out.

I'd die for a image like this, my nemesis bird. Sharp, nice color, just about perfect background. Thank you for sharing.

Looks very nice. Like the two toned background. Nice pose and perch.

I'm with Joseph. I would die for a kingfisher image like this. They are so skittish, I don't think I have a single keeper. Well done.
