It was fun seeing this fella come into shallow waters (and sometimes completely out of it) and walk rather than swim. Here it passed a puddle so small that a full reflection was not possible, but that's OK, I like the look anyhow:S3:.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp, cleaned up the eye, deepened the blacks and boost saturation.

I love the ethereal feel to this image.
And I really like the way the reflection fades away.
Great low POV with a perfect HA.
I think you could boost the blacks a bit more but lovely as is,
Gail

I was about to use the word ethereal, but Gail beat me too it. I like the floating feeling, pose and POV. Another great shorebird experience for you.

Daniel:

Agree with Bill and Gail. Ethereal it is. The reflection and soft background work very well, the head down, tail and leg up pose is great. And the shooting angle is semi subterranean . I guess I will have to start using a submarine for my loons to get this low.:bg3:

Very nice. Great low angle and the ghost like reflection is very nice. The background is killer as well.

Yeah, this sets a wonderful mood. He's giving you a super engaging look and the soft reflection is great. Low angle awesome as always. I'm a stickler for sharp feet on shorebirds, so that's the only issue I have. Tough to freeze the leg given your light though.

Gorgeous as ever Dan, the reflection adds a huge amount to this
