I returned to my fave Glen in Perthshire a couple of days ago, to photograph the Red Grouse, not the best of weather, mainly dark cloud with some rain. I liked the pose this one gave, as she was on the lookout for predators, whilst her young family were feeding on the heather buds nearby. Handheld..ACR and PS2019.

Just awesome vertical frame. Love the composition, BG, FG and that pose. Great details and color. TFS

Hey Will, you are nailing these grouse. Love the pose, background and what appears to be heather foreground. Lovely image, thank you for sharing.

Good alert grouse, showing nicely against the dark background. Light conditions didn't give you a lot of leeway to play with DOF or SS.

Never tire of these beauties, William. She's a proud mom protecting her family. Like what you've done with that beautiful overcast weather. Great detail, and wonderful background color.

Good proud-looking pose, and nice colours. I love the white legs. I feel that a "truer" vertical would work well: you could come in just a bit on each side and easily add some canvas above.

What a beautiful frame. Such a proud pose.
Agree 100% with Daniel.
Color palette is really pretty.
You are the "grouse master"!

Definitely the cock of the hill! Grat shooting angle, especially with the stretched up pose. Techs spot on, nice work
