Hi all,

A wren from a couple months ago. It was a ton of fun watching this one and its mate hunt, feed, call, and preen all day long in the backyard.

Camera: Nikon D500
Lens: 500mm f/4 + 1.4 TC
Specs: 1/500 f/6.3 ISO 3,200

Thanks for looking and commenting on prior posts!

This is an outstanding image, Alex! The detail is crazy across the frame - especially on those undervalued legs/feet - and you can't beat the alert pose with cocked tail. The insect is the perfect touch. BG is money. I'd love to see a bit more of
the rock if you have it. You could slide him up just a touch if you wanted.

Wonderful pose. The dark background is lovely, and the bug a real plus. Well captured.

This is an incredible shot Alex! The detail is amazing and the lack of noise at such a high ISO is great. I echo Dorian's suggestion of moving the bird up slightly. Awesome work!

All has been said but I'm also very impressed with the image quality at that ISO. The dynamic pose and the prey in the beak is a real bonus.
The image would definitely get a lift if you moved the bird slightly higher in the frame by adding more of the rock.

Thanks all, much appreciated and glad you like it. I think I have a bit more room below (or the next frame probably does), so will look at that. These are some of my favorite birds; this pair has built a nest in my parent's backyard for the past couple years now so it's a real highlight of the early summer to see them so active together. Best,

This is lovely Alex.
What a treat to have these in your parents backyard.
Love the deep green BG, excellent IQ and the raised head with the grubs.
Perky tail is sweet as well.
No nits from me!
