I captured this image yesterday morning at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. There was not many birds but I had a few opportunities, it was a nice three mile walk. This image was captured when the bird was perched on a wooden post at the intersection of Wading Bird Way and Marsh Rabbit run trails. That location is described in the BAA Middle Florida Photography Site Guide available on the Birds As Art Online Store. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Post processed in Lightroom Classic, Photoshop CC 2019 and Neat Image for noise reduction
Cropped for composition and presentation

P.S. Looking at the image closely I am struck by how much the feathers of these primarily swimming birds resemble fur.

This is a beauty Joe! Love the pose and the details. The tri-layered BG is killer! Wish the bird was preening the feathers on the near side of the neck but that's getting really nit-picky. More space around the bird would be nice too but I still like it as presented. Really well done!!

The BG is what makes this a really nice image.
I love the curvy lines created by the neck.
Great details in the feathers ( might be a bit oversharpened for my taste)
I like your comp.
Perfect catchlight in the eye.

Lovely comp with curved neck, and killer BG. I also thought it might be a bit oversharpened -- eye looks good to me, but lower neck feathers seem a little crunchy.

Nice feather details. I like the Blues in the image. I would dodge the feathers a little bit.

The two toned background here is great. Really like the shape the birds neck and head makes. Nice and sharp with great detail.
